If you’re ready for a deep dive, the Biota of North America Program BONAP provides extensive botanical information on all North American plants. NAPA represents the first comprehensive attempt to provide state- and county-level distribution maps. It also provides multiple unique maps depicting unique soil and substrate types, climates and temperature zones, along with vegetation maps for the continent. Further, the BONAP’s Taxonomic Data Center (TDC) provides searchable information on all families, genera, and species of plants.
As its name implies, MN Wildflowers is an extensive site for all things about native Minnesota wildflowers.
The importance of Milkweed cannot be overstated. It is the single species of plants that determine if the Monarchs survive or not.
The US Fish and Wildlife agency put out an informative discussion about how dire the situation is and what they (and we) can do about getting more milkweed into our communities.
