Butterflies and Moths (Lepidoptera)

Butterflies and Moths of North America (BAMONA) is an ambitious effort to collect, store, and share species information and occurrence data. You can participate by taking and submitting photographs of butterflies, moths, and caterpillars.

The North American Butterfly Association  (NABA) is a transnational wildlife conservation nonprofit working to create a world where butterflies thrive, for the benefit of nature and people. Founded by passionate butterfliers in 1992, and run by volunteers as a labor of love through its first 30 years, the North American Butterfly Association (NABA) has proven to be the most strategic and effective organization on the continent at conserving these crucial pollinators. NABA achieves its impact through increasing butterfly habitat, protecting imperiled butterflies, monitoring butterfly populations, and running the National Butterfly Center preserve.

The Monarch Joint Venture (MJV) is a national conservation nonprofit that implements science-based conservation actions for monarch butterflies and other pollinators through four main pillars: habitat, science, education, and partnership. Conservation actions are organized in a regularly updated Monarch Conservation Implementation Framework, which serves as a guide to conservation planning for individuals, partners, and other interested stakeholders nationally.  MJV was founded in 2008, inspired by the collaborative model of bird joint ventures that successfully united diverse partners for migratory bird conservation. While monarch conservation carries that same spirit of international cooperation, our work is driven by voluntary partnerships and community action rather than direct legislative support. After a decade at the University of Minnesota, MJV became an independent nonprofit in 2018, expanding our capacity to lead and support conservation nationwide.
