Goats for Land Management - Jake Langeslag
Goat Dispatch of Faribault, owned by Jake and Amanda Langeslag, specializes in land mangement/ brush removal with the use of goats. As a trained Ecologist, Master Gardener and Master Naturalist, Jake is passionate about finding eco-friendly ways to manage our lands. What started as an ecological experiment of 5 goats in his home woods has now grown into a herd of around 400 goats working all over the State. He believes getting back to using animals to manage our lands is best for the environment. Jake will share some of results of managing land with goats found from a three-year study with the MN Dept. of Agriculture – Sustainability Grant.

Lyme Disease - Rick Dahlman
Rick Dahlman, a retired MN DNR forester, has been living with the effects of Lyme disease for over 30 years. As a forester he was constantly exposed to Deer Ticks (Ixodes scapularis) and unfortunately, one transmitted Lyme Disease to him. Though he never had the typical rash, the persistent headaches, severe and chronic pains and fatigue and some mobility have plagued him. Lyme disease is a bacterial infection transmitted through the bite of tick, known in Minnesota as the Deer Tick and in Wisconsin as the Bear tick. Rick is now the chairman of the Minnesota Lyme Association’s Speakers Bureau and travels around the state educating people on how to reduce their risk of tick-borne diseases. Rick will have good advice for us all.
